Jacqueline Haskell

Jacqueline Haskell (mentored by Jill Dawson and Tim Pears) has just had her first poetry collection – Stroking Cerberus: Poems from the Afterlife – published by Myriad Editions (29th January 2020), as part of the Spotlight Books series.

Spotlight Books is a collaboration between Creative Future, New Writing South and Myriad to discover, guide and support writers who are under-represented due to mental or physical health issues, disability, race, class, gender identity or social circumstance.

Jacqueline received two courses of Gold Dust mentoring for her debut novel, The Auspice, subsequently a finalist in the 2018 Bath Novel Award, and for which she is now seeking agent representation.

‘Jill and Tim are not only the finest writers, they are also the finest mentors; without their encouragement and practical expertise in the early stages of my writing career, I would not have had the enthusiasm or stamina to finish the novel.’

Jacqueline’s second poetry collection – The Short Shelf Life of Hearts, the narrative of a transplanted heart – was a finalist in the 2019 Cinnamon Press Literature Award. She is now working on her second novel, Keeper.
