I like to get a very clear sense that any writer submitting to me is in this because they love writing, not because they see pound signs flashing up. With the writing itself I am mainly looking for three things: Authenticity, Uniqueness of Voice and Intricacy of Plotting. I want to know why are you so well placed to tell this particular story. I want to know read the story you are telling in a way that stands out from the rest; and finally, a good story cannot stand up if an author hasn’t thought about what every page will add to the telling of that story, I want it to take me on a journey. I am constantly surprised by what enchants me.
