Another writer mentored by Jill Dawson has just announced a book deal. Nada Holland will publish her first novel, Motherborn, with Lendal Press, in February 2021. Lendal Press is a brand new independent publisher; the editor is Paige Henderson. Nada was mentored by Jill Dawson for Gold Dust mentoring several years ago but wrote to tell us the news, enthusing that ‘Jill has followed my career, congratulating me when my work was nominated for prizes, and continuing to offer advice and support.’ Once again, we offer warmest congratulations to Nada and will be excited to see the novel out in the world.
I was mentored by Jill and she has followed my career since, congratulating me when my work was listed for prizes and continuing to offer advice and support. My book was bought by Lendal almost immediately after I’d written it. Commissioning editor Paige Henderson at Lendal, a new Indie press specialising in groundbreaking literary fiction, contacted me days after I submitted it. I think we just clicked. She chose my book and I chose her. I’m really honoured and proud to be the first Lendal title!
