Kathryn Heyman is the author of four novels, including The Accomplice, about the 1629 wreck of the Dutch ship Batavia, for which she received an Arts Council of England Writers Award. Her fourth novel, Captain Starlight's Apprentice, was serialised for BBC Radio. Her novels have been longlisted for the Orange prize, shortlisted for the Scottish Writer of the Year Award, the Kibble Award in Australia, and the West Australian Premier's Prize. Kathryn has written for theatre - and been nominated for the Edinburgh Fringe Critic's Awards - and writes frequently for BBC Radio 4. She has been a Writing Fellow at various universities, including Glasgow, and Westminster College, Oxford, and taught fiction writing for University of Oxford, the University of Massachussetts, and the University of Sydney.
