Jacquetta May is a TV scriptwriter and actress and a highly sought-after mentor for writers for TV. After studying at Bristol University she worked as a theatre actress for 10 years, performing at the National Theatre, Manchester Royal Exchange, Liverpool Everyman, The Bush, and many others. Roles included Lady Chatterly in Lady Chatterly’s Lover, Rita in Educating Rita, Adriana in Comedy of Errors and Beverly in Abigail’s Party. Since 1990 she worked as a television actress and is known for her role as Eastenders' Rachel Kominski (91 -93). She was a regular character in Dangerfield (96) Cardiac Arrest (97) Home farm Twins (98,99), also appearing in I’m Still Alan Partridge, Cold feet, Uncle Silas, Silent Witness, Down To Earth, Four Fathers, Holby City and many others, including - of course - Casualty and The Bill. Films include Naked cell and Get real.

Jacquetta co-founded and ran the new writing theatre company Plain Clothes Productions, commissioning and developing new scripts for small scale national touring. She directed Her Sister’s Tongue at The Lyric theatre Hammersmith in 1997.

Jacquetta has been working as a TV script writer since 1999, and has written episodes of Where The Heart Is (ITV), New tricks (BBC), No Angels (C4) and Torchwood (BBC3 and 1) , She created a youth series called UGetMe (CBBC and BBC 2) which ran for 3 series, and developed a drama series (Kitchen) for the BBC. She is currently developing a teen series for BBC Scotland (Hooligans) and writing a film about Barbara Cartland for BBC4 (Men Are Wonderful).
